Dan was first introduced to wheelchair basketball in 2006 by Coach Grant Moorhead and began playing with the San Diego Hammer w/c basketball team. He is an original member of Wolfpack and has been a Navy Warrior Games coach since 2011.

Also over the years, Dan has volunteered time teaching the sport to local Junior Varsity high school disabled athletes.
